Jupiter Palm Beach Motorcoach Resort – RV Park Review
Being new to the world of RV ownership, I’m far from an aficionado of RV or motor coach parks or resorts. To date, I’ve only camped at four different parks and each one was only for a one night stay. But unlike seasoned campers, I thought it might be helpful to others to provide a point of view from a newbie and to provide my thoughts on each park as I visit in my 1957 Flxible Starliner bus.
Being a newbie, I’m not afraid to ask questions and since this is my first review of a motorcoach resort, I’ll ask: Is “motorcoach” one or two words? I ask as many of the resorts use one word in their name, but my spell checker says that’s incorrect. So, feel free to add a comment here or on my Facebook page at Facebook.com/TheGadgetGuru and let me know the correct answer. Until then, for this report I’ll use one word. Now, back to the story…
The reason I mentioned the year and brand of my bus is that not every upscale motorcoach resort welcomes older model coaches. I have no doubt that if I only told them I was arriving in a 59 year old bus, I’d hear a dial tone very quickly. However, as I’ve made reservations at other Florida resorts, I’ve come to learn that every park I’ve contacted, once they’ve seen photos or a video of the Starliner, they have been delighted to allow it to camp at that specific resort. Even parks that restrict occupancy to coaches that are of a specific length or more than ten years old have welcomed my 34′, 1957 Flxible Starliner.
This being the first chapter of what I hope to be an ongoing series of overviews of the parks I visit, I’ll point out upfront that I do not accept any compensation whatsoever for my posts. If I like something, I’ll tell you. If not, I’ll provide my opinion.
Location
Being my first resort visit as a bus owner (previous visits were as a motorhome renter), I thought it best to visit a resort that’s close to home. The Jupiter Palm Beach Motorcoach Resort is just 15 minutes from my home and located on Indiantown Road, just four miles West of both the Florida Turnpike and I-95 on the West side of Jupiter, Florida. It’s surrounded by preserve areas and nestled just far enough off the main thoroughfare where it’s convenient and offers privacy, peace and quiet. Access to the resort from the highways are unencumbered and easy to navigate.
Future Amenities
Allow me to point out this is a new resort and it’s not yet 100% complete. As of this posting, 50 of the 100 planned pads have been fully developed and its clubhouse appears to be nearing completion. The clubhouse will feature a ballroom, bar area, two card rooms, billiards room, library, fitness facility, men’s and women’s locker rooms, infinity pool, hot tub, pickleball court, bocce court, warming kitchen and laundry facilities.
Lots/Pads
The lots are laid out in an oval pattern with both pull- and back-in spots available. Each lot has additional land and the owners have the option of building a “tiny house” on the property adjacent to each pad. The first tiny house is currently under construction and having this amenity could be what separates this park from others in the area. Construction and design guidelines must adhere to architectural specifications and of course, local codes.
Access
Ingress and egress is simple and the roads are smooth. As you’re approaching the entrance, pay attention to your GPS as the entrance can sneak up on you. The signage is clearly visible from the street and easy to find, if you know when to look. Upon entry, you pass through a gated entrance that is not yet fully operational and places you directly in front of the sales/rental office. The staff is enthusiastic and welcoming and makes check-in a breeze. I’ll add that when exiting, if you’re heading on the Florida Turnpike or I-95, a U-turn is required, but the intersection provides more than ample space. My vintage bus, without power steering and with a car in tow, had no problems safely making the turn. Here, take a look:
Experience
As soon as you check-in, the Manager leads you by golf cart to your pad. Assistance in parking and hookup is offered and based on my visit, the staff goes the long route in providing a comfortable and care free stay. I’ll add that since this is a new park, all the hookup connections are in perfect operating condition and the landscaping in the developed area couldn’t be nicer.
During my visit, I arrived in the afternoon and since there were only a few other coaches visiting, I was assigned a premium spot that provided a view of palm trees, a manmade lake and the soon-to-open clubhouse.
For WiFi, while a dedicated system was not yet available, I was given the credentials to log onto a park hotspot that provided ample bandwidth to watch an episode of Empire on Hulu using my Apple TV.
After dark, the streets are lit well without being annoying to the guests. Trash is picked up between 8am – 10am each day. If additional pickup is needed, that’s not a problem and the Resident Manager is happy to assist.
One of my favorite amenities is safety and while the gates are not yet fully operational, I had no concerns about security. Much of this is due to the location which is in a very quiet are in Northern Palm Beach County.
Price
Depending on lot location, the nightly rentals range from $90 – $100 in peak season and $60 – $70 during the off season. Of course discounts are available for longer stays. I’ll add that during my visit in December 2016, a 50% discount was offered and I’m to understand a 25% discount is available in January.
And yes, while Lucy the Dog joined me on this visit, I was told that up to two well behaved pets are welcomed at the resort.
The pads in this site are for sale and the prices are a bit over the $200K price point plus a monthly maintenance fee. Once the clubhouse is completed, it’s not difficult to see that this could be an ideal resort for those seeking a safe, secure and conveniently located motor coach park.
